After waiting for quite some time seeing heifers come from them, Baron came along. He has had an extensive show career in the past 2 years . When Brogan was born on a very cold day, I instantly knew he was going to be something special. His Dam is an impact Dam and it was her first bull calf. I could see the stamp that his sire always put on his calves no master the female genetics. He had an extensive show career being on the ROE both years. But his true test would be can he produce the consistency that his sire did? And after several breeding seasons, the answer is yes. Buddy of River View is a dun bull with excellent feet, long body and a large square hip. These desirable traits have been consistently passed down to all offspring produced on our farm. Buddy has also improved the udders on the heifers retained from him. In the time we have used Buddy no matter the pairing he has only thrown dun, black and silver offspring. His calves were of average birth weight providing easy calving, but the weaning weight of the steers from him were above average compared to other bulls we have used on the same cows. Prominent on Roosevelt’s sire side is Glen Osprey breeding, while hard to find JAR breeding is prominent on his maternal side. I had always appreciated Steel Reserve and thought when I needed another bull there would be a son available. When I saw Xtreme as a yearling at a Colorado show, I knew he was the one. He has had a few calf crops with different female genetics and he has exceeded my expectations. Whether breeding stock or market animals he puts his stamp on them with a sound foot and leg, well muscled and structurally correct. But most of all a good disposition. Sandhill Pines Farm calves born in 2022 are growing over 50% faster than calves born in 2013. The modeling program has 91 weights that make up the growth curve. Genesis’ dam is Black Watch Portia, a fancy silver cow that was shown extensively, Genesis was 70 lbs. at birth, 725 lbs. at one year old, 1,145 lbs. at two years old and currently weighs 1,560 at 34 months. This is on a grass-fed beef producing operation; not a show fed bull. His mature weight will be approximately 1800-1900 lbs. His 2020 calf birth weight averages were 67 lbs.
