Reproduction Topic: What to Know Before Breeding Cattle
Katie Pfeiffer is a Reproductive Specialist with CentralStar, where she works with beef and dairy producers to improve their reproductive efficiency. She will focus her presentation on natural breeding and artificial insemination as well as the economics and logistics of managing both systems. During her presentation, she will also discuss a variety of technologies from activity systems to synchronization protocols. Katie attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and a Master’s degree in Cattle Reproductive Physiology. Katie currently owns a herd of Hereford cattle and just purchased a farm in New Lisbon, Wis. Bring any and all of your questions related to Highland cattle reproduction and Katie will answer them during her session as well as one-on-one during the networking time.
Hay & Forage Educational Topic: 2019 Hay & Forage Economic Impact and What to Do Seminar
Bill Halfman is an accomplished agricultural agent serving Monroe County since 1998. Bill’s primary area of focus is in Livestock Production and Management. Bill’s work in beef production and management includes developing and sharing numerous decision-aid spreadsheets, as well as coordinating and presenting beef production and management programs across the state, including collaboration with neighboring states of Iowa and Minnesota. Bill also helped develop and now manages the WI (Extension) Beef Information Center website. Bill is a frequent contributor to the WI Agriculturist magazine and has been a guest on Sirius XM Rural Satellite radio as well as The Angus Report on RFD-TV. As a member of the Extension Livestock Team, Bill provides leadership to the Beef workgroup organizing and coordinating the annual statewide Cattle Feeder Clinic at six locations across the state. Bill is also an advisor to the Western WI Beef Producers Cooperative.
